A test system introduced in France in 1999 to assess the suitability of a product for contact with water intended for human consumption, in accordance with the provisions of the current legislation. To date, this system has been applied to accessories and accessory subassemblies consisting of organic materials and objects, as well as at least one organic component that comes into contact with water (See the ministerial circulars dated 12 April 1999, 27 April 2000 and 25 November 2002). This certificate is issued to confirm that the product complies with the necessary standards and regulations. For example, pipes used for water supply, such as water tanks with a capacity of over 10 m3, PVC, PP, PE pipes, their unions, fittings, pipe sleeves and pipe seals require ACS. According to Article R*.1321-52 of the General Health Law, only regulatory authorities or certification bodies (laboratories) authorized and assigned by the Ministry of Health can issue and implement ACS. Before issuing this certificate, a comprehensive assessment and testing is usually required to ensure that the product complies with applicable health and safety standards, including manufacturing processes, ingredient specifications, labeling requirements and other relevant criteria. It is very important to have a Health Conformity Certificate (ACS) as it is proof that the product complies with the required quality and safety standards; it will also provide assurance to consumers and regulators, in particular, that the product is suitable for consumption or use. The certificate is valid for 5 years after issuance.
